Carnival became an important part of that journey. I’ve experienced celebrations like Saint Lucia Carnival, Crop Over in Barbados, Jamaica Carnival, and smaller island carnivals in places like Tobago and Dominica. These festivals reveal something essential about the Caribbean: creativity, resilience, and a deep connection between history, music, and community.
But the Caribbean is far more layered than the postcard version often shown. Each island carries its own culture, language, and rhythm of everyday life. The more time you spend here, the more the region reveals its depth, warmth, and complexity.
